VWI 25 years the supporters club for women with ambition | Wageningen UR presents Gender Action Plan
VWI, the network of female alumni from Wageningen University, has started the year of it’s 25th anniversary very well with the event 'King and Queens Get ToGetHer' on 17 January, the closing event of VWI’s Grab Your Chance – project. Over 100 women and men attended the event and its inspiring programme. Rector magnificus Wageningen university, prof. dr. Martin Kropff, through Director Animal Sciences & IMARES dr. ir. Martin Scholten, declared his intention to create more opportunities for female talent with the Gender Action Plan. There were many opportunities for women and men to engage in discussions and to make plans for action. VWI launched a new campaign to keep gender awareness on the agenda within Wageningen University.
A report of the event including presentations and the Gender Action Plan can be read on the VWI website.
In 2014 VWI celebrates the fact that it was founded 25 years ago. Under the motto ‘werken en feesten vormt schoone geesten’ (‘working and partying create clear minds’ – a statement by Johanna Westerdijk, the first female professor in the Netherlands) three more events and several side activities will be organized throughout the year. This event on January 17th was an inspiring start. Highlight of a year full of festivities will be the reunion for members and former members on November 1st 2014. VWI is part of KLV.
