Academic Year Prize 2013

This year, creative researchers looking for innovative ways of making their findings known among a broader public again stand to win a prize of € 100,000. Teams can sign up for the 8th edition of the Academic Year Prize from today until Monday 2 April.

The aim of the Academic Year Prize is to encourage scientific researchers, PhD candidates and students to find ways of bringing their research findings to the attention of a broader public or specific target groups. The competition is open to teams from Dutch universities, UMCs, research institutes affiliated to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) or the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the TNO research organisation, major technological institutes and other non-commercial research institutes.
The first prize of € 100,000 allows the winning team of scientists, PhD candidates and/or students to realise its research proposal. In addition, three teams of finalists will compete for the Labyrint Public Award, organised by the VPRO/NTR television programme of the same name. The winner will be granted an editorial report in an episode of Labyrint.
